A Busy Week

Galahad has again had a busy few days.  First of all, he had his final clip of the winter – which means pretty much all of his hair has gone.  I love seeing all of the multicoloured hair on the floor when my instructor has finished!

Obviously, not all of this belongs to Galahad!

He does look rather smart now.

Then Galahad had his six-monthly back check and for only the second time ever he had no problems and needed no treatment.  We have had so many issues with his back that this is still a surprise and such a wonderful feeling.  I could not be happier!

Bouncy Pony

This has been a busy week for the ponies.  On Tuesday they went away to my instructor’s yard so Galahad could have a follow up back check on the Wednesday.   I managed to squeeze in a lesson on the Tuesday night first and it was somewhat interesting!  He was full of energy and bounced around the arena.   Cookster was in a stable very close by which was probably the main reason.

Galahad took quite a while to settle but once he did we had a really good lesson. We are even starting to get the hang of quarters in!

His muscles were still pretty tight when he had his back check but thankfully it could be massaged out rather than needing a full treatment.  It’s the first time that has ever happened and I couldn’t be more pleased.   It definitely pays off to make his back checks more frequent!

Back Checks

On Wednesday both ponies had their backs checked.  Galahad  – as usual – needed the full treatment so he now has lovely patches of dry gel stuck to him.

It also means he needs a few days off which I’m sure he will not mind at all.

Cookster just needed a checkup but he has lost a bit of topline muscle so both ponies will be getting some lunging over the next few weeks!  Galahad will be fine but I find it very difficult to keep Cookster going forward on the lunge.

Since Galahad needed the time off both ponies are now home which is lovely.  They certainly look like they are enjoying their free time!
